Résumé

Marcos Gil-Garcia received his B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 2016 and graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Advanced Biotechnology from the same institution in 2017. Then, he performed his PhD thesis focused on the design of improved therapeutic proteins and the creation of novel protein-based nanomaterials, in the group of Prof. Salvador Ventura at UAB. During his PhD, Marcos applied in silico tools to increase the solubility of different proteins without impacting their conformation, and exploited the self-assembly ability of coiled-coil domains to build up multifunctional biomaterials. Furthermore, in the last stage of his PhD, Marcos spent three months in the group of Prof. Stefano Ricagno at University of Milan deciphering the atomic structure of amyloid fibrils from a prion-like protein using cryo-Electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
In April 2022, Marcos joined Prof. Arosio’s group as a postdoctoral researcher where he will delve into the creation of enzymatic microreactors based on the liquid-liquid phase separation process.
