Timo Schneider
Résumé
After completing his Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at ETH Zurich with distinction in 2019, Timo Schneider interned for 6 months at the pharmaceutical manufacturer Dottikon Exclusive Synthesis AG. There he was responsible for the development of new procedures and software for assessing heat transfer in chemical batch reactors and condensers. After that, he spent the rest of the year developing and scaling-up a continuous work-up procedure for a novel drug at Novartis Pharma AG.
In 2020, Timo started his Master’s degree in process engineering also at ETH Zurich, for which he received the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Award. During a semester project at the group of Prof. Dr. Arosio he studied thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of phase separation involving zwitterionic copolymers.
After spending three months at a management consulting firm, he went to the group of Prof. Dr. Jensen at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, US) for his Master’s thesis, supported by the Master Thesis Grant issued by the Zeno Karl Schindler foundation. There he joined the group’s efforts in developing a new fully automated high-throughput synthesis platform, which is capable of optimizing chemical reactions. At the end of 2022, he received his M. Sc. from ETH Zurich for which he was awarded the Willi Studer Prize.
In January 2023, Timo went back to the Arosio lab to start his PhD studies in the field of computational methods for protein phase separation.
