[Nature Communications] Enhancement of enzymatic activity by biomolecular condensates through pH buffering

Congratulations Florence, Marcell, Marcos, Andreas, Ana, Raphaël, and Lenka!

Biomolecular condensates can modulate enzymatic reactions by creating a distinct effective solvent compared to the surrounding solution. Here, we show that pH buffering within the dense phase expands the pH interval which is optimal for enzymatic activity and enables optimization of one-pot cascade reactions. The findings show a new potential function of enzymatic condensates which goes beyond simple acceleration of reaction rates. Have a read external page here!
