Résumé

Dominik Zürcher received his B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering from ETH Zürich in 2017 and graduated with a M.Sc. degree in Chemical and Bioengineering from the same institution in 2019. He was awarded the Willi Studer Prize for the best master’s degree in the programme. Before his studies, he worked in the financial industry for two years.

During his master’s, he interned at the ETH spin-off Avantama in product engineering to improve the performance of colloidal inorganic nanoparticles for applications in liquid crystal displays. He then joined the Biochemical Engineering Laboratory at ETH as a research assistant where he worked on the dynamics of membraneless organelles in microfluidic droplets under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Arosio and Miriam Linsenmeier.

From February until August 2019, he joined the research group of Prof. Tuomas P. J. Knowles at the University of Cambridge for his master project. There, he collaborated with the Cambridge spin-off Fluidic Analytics to investigate antigen-antibody binding in human blood serum employing microfluidic techniques.

After one year of project-based work in the R&D and marketing department of a major consumer goods company, he rejoined the Biochemical Engineering Laboratory in September 2020 to pursue his PhD studies in collaboration with an industrial partner.
